For some reason, disinformation similar to that of Goebbels of the Nazi Third Reich, is causing a paralyzing hesitancy to put on a safety belt (vaccination). Novax has become a weapon of mass destruction.In Windhoek West, where the major tertiary referral hospital (Windhoek Central Hospital) of the Ministry of Health and Social Services is situated, many streets are named after prominent medical scientists and Nobel prize winners. Examples include Dr. Jenner (the father of immunology – cowpox and smallpox, 1796), Louis Pasteur (microscope bacteria – anthrax and rabies vaccine, 1850), Robert Koch (tuberculosis, Rinderpest and cholera, 1890), Lister (disinfectants), Sauerbruch (hygiene in surgery and birth), Florence Nightingale (the lady with the lamp, a nurse in the Crimea, stands out, nurse Risser), as well as Fleming (Penicillin).Smallpox has been eliminated, and polio is almost history thanks to vaccination. The above mentioned persons were not voodoo hocus-pocus witchdoctors, but God inspired scientists. Thank God for the light, the way and life.It is hard to fight lies, fake news and disinformation (conspiracy theories). Similar to the struggle with apartheid prejudice.If you have an injury requiring the cleaning of a wound and sutures, a good doctor will always add a tetanus toxoid vaccine, routinely.We live in the 21st century where inputs to the CPU (Central Processing Unit/brain) and outputs can be measured. We don’t have to guess or thumb suck.We need a reality check. Ignorance/prejudice is not bliss.Information is knowledge, power, security and safe choices.I had two doses of Sinopharm and a Johnson & Johnson booster and light Covid-19. At the age of 71 years, I swam the jetty mile for the tenth time in December.
