Reviving the beautiful game

Football organisers began reviving reserve tournaments after the ban on contact sports with the Chuu-Ve Championship this weekend at the Khomasdal and John ya Otto stadiums.

The tournament is said to have been set up to give players the chance to start doing what they love most.

“We really just want the players to have fun and play football since they have not been able to do so for a long time now.

“We are happy with the way this tournament went so far and we can only promise for bigger and better events.

“These kinds of tournaments give an opportunity for premier league players to come and keep themselves fit as they wait for league football to begin,” organiser Coleca Hange said.

Privilege

The tournament, which began on Saturday, was expected to conclude yesterday afternoon.

“This is a one-weekend tournament and we do not want it to go over to the next weekend.

“It is a privilege to have seen the players back on the filed after such a difficult time,” Hange added.

The organiser promised more football action that will be regulated at all times in order to avoid the spread of Covid-19.
