I am in awe of the fact how a leader can seek his wealth by destroying hard-earned properties of his subjects.
The colonial apartheid regime thought it wise to set up that Ram Camp for the Vaalgras communical subsistence farmers as far back as 1963, when the late African political icon, Cde. Rolihlahla Nelson Mandela was jailed.
I would say that the anonymities surrounding Heichas was created by the former Land's Minister, Hon. Alpheus! Naruseb. He played political cards and deceptions with the future of the already impoverished, neglected and underdeveloped rural community.
In our view more subsistence farmers should have been resettled at Heichas Farm, to ease the grazing burden on the communal land. The apparent advice by the //Kharas Regional Land Board to Vaalgras Traditional Authority did not succeed and left them with the only coercive, heinous and inept option to remove, demolish and steal the camp material. This unwarranted and illegitimate action encroaches on criminality.
In terms of the law, it’s a crime to take someone's property without the permission and/or consent of the owner. In this specific issue at hand the community of Vaalgras is the only genuine and legitimate owners of that Ram Camp.
Furthermore, what they are currently busy doing is rudimentary wrong in logic and they should be charged in terms of Article 91 (a) (dd) and (ff) of the Namibian Constitution, through the Ombudsman's Office. The longer the deposed leadership clings to untouchable power, the more problems they are causing.
They have never brought any socio-economic development to Vaalgras prior to and after independence, but they are very quick to break down something that someone else has brought to the community. They should be instructed to go and put back that fences at own cost within a given timeframe of at least 60 days, after the issuance of the order.
