Rakhimov to take on SA's Fuzile

International Boxing Organisation (IBO) junior lightweight champion Shavkatdzhon Rakhimov will fight South Africa's Azinga Fuzile in an International Boxing Federation (IBF) junior lightweight title eliminator on 29 September in East London.Rakhimov hails from Ekaterinburg in Russia, and is coming off a fourth-round stoppage win over South African fighter Rofhiwa Maemu, in defence of his belt on 23 March this year. Rakhimov's IBO belt will not be on the line in East London.The 23-year-old Fuzile, who has a record of 14 wins in 14 fights, and who is rated number four by the IBF, is without a doubt South Africa's most talented and promising fighter, but he has a tough assignment against Rakhimov, who also has a flawless record after 14 fights, and is rated number five by the IBF in the junior lightweight division. The IBF do not list numbers one and twoRakhimov, 25, made his pro debut on 6 December 2015, and has won his last three fights in style, with wins over former IBF junior lightweight champion Malcolm Klassen (TKO in round eight) from South Africa, Robinson Castellanos (TKO in round two) of Mexico and Maemu.The winner of this all-southpaw clash will qualify to meet IBF junior lightweight champion Tevin Farmer from Philadelphia in the United States.Fuzile, from the Eastern Cape, who fights out of Colin Nathan's new Hotbox Gym, will have the backing of all South Africans boxing fans, as he goes into the biggest challenge in his boxing life.
