Race to Omeya eagerly contested

As we move into winter, golf clubs have experienced slightly smaller fields, but yet Omeya boasted with a field of 96 players who participated in last weekend's AfricaOnline Race to Omeya Members Cup event.
Saturday was round six of the series of ten events and players who have played all six events can start eliminating their weakest round, as the six best scores will count towards the final order of merit.
Once again players dipped well under their handicaps and herewith the results:
1 Suzette Vermeulen on 40 points
2 Gielie van Wyk on 39 points (count-out)
3 Dan Zwiebel on 39 points
4 Johan Knoetze on 37 points
5 Niel Groenewald on 37 points

• Tomorrow the club welcomes back PPS with the playing of round 2 of their four-round series.
Round 3 of the PPS Medal series will move over to Rössmund golf course on 15 July. All players are welcome to participate in this event and PPS is excited to host their coastal clients as well.

Tomorrow's competition is a two-in-one.
The Windhoek Lager monthly medley will also serve as the first qualifier for the Windhoek Lager International Pairs, where the qualifiers of each club will play in the national finals.
There they will compete for places to travel to Portugal to compete in the international finals competition.
