Quality service equals a quality life

Monique AdamsPhillipus is compassionately driven by being empathetic to the Fund’s members as she provides support, information and solves their problems. On a daily basis she deals with complaints, enquiries, registers incoming claims and documents. In addition to updating members’ data, she also verifies whether member information is authentic and provides administration and support services to the office. However, like any other job, she encounters challenges. Phillipus said that working with different people constantly teaches her something new. “When I feel really challenged, I ask for guidance from my colleagues and that provides me with an opportunity to learn. Two is better than one. We tackle everything as a team. We are such an amazing team, with a positive outlook on life.” Phillipus finds it easy to balance her personal and work life. “I prioritise family time when at home and spend most of my time with my parents. I also spend quality time by myself, by going to the gym.” Other hobbies she enjoys include: singing, especially choral music (she recently joined her mother’s choir); travelling and reading. She is currently reading ‘The Daily Stoic’ by Ryan Holiday.When quizzed about her future plans, Phillipus quipped: “Personally, I don’t reveal my future plans. I pace myself. I believe we are our own competition and our own cheerleaders. We are all unique and that is our individual power. Run your own race, set your own standards and believe that you will conquer the world.” Phillipus encourages members to visit the GIPF offices less often by rather using email and telephone for enquiries. She further advises clients to adhere to the health and safety protocols, such as social distancing, wearing masks, sanitising and washing their hands if they need to visit any GIPF office.
