Pupkewitz Motors appoints Vevangaune Tjahuha as finance manager

Desiree Gases Vevangaune Tjahuha was initially a charted accounting student at Unam in 2019, but he later realised that he was slowly developing a passion for management accounting. Not long after that, he shared this passion with his professor at the time and he was then introduced to Charted Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA). His first job was at ILSA (International Law Students Association) Independence College for about six months before he moved over to Pupkewitz Motors.Tjahuha started as finance manager at Pupkewitz Von Baums on 4 February 2021, after being promoted from being an accountant at Pupkewitz Toyota. His new job title entails monitoring the day-to-day financial operations within the company, preparing monthly management reports, participating in strategic data analysis and modelling for senior company leadership, supporting project analysis and validation of plans, managing the company’s financial accounting and monitoring the reporting systems, and ensuring compliance with accounting policies and regulatory requirements. “I would describe my day-to-day work as an adventure. This is a relatively new role for me, and every day has brought about discoveries.”He has been working for Pupkewitz Motors for five years and seven months, of which the first seven months were on a temporary contract. Tjahuha says he stayed because of the growth prospect within the group, and also because of a great working environment. “I appreciate the mentoring programme and support from senior management. Most importantly, I have trust in the business leaders, which gives me a sense of job security,” he says.His biggest challenge has always been finding the right balance between work and studying at the same time. He would sometimes find himself in a situation where he would have to skip some exams because he was not prepared enough, but he says that now he has found the perfect recipe that works for him. His accomplishments are that he joined the Pupkewitz Motors team on a temporary contract as an admin clerk, and five years later, he is a finance manager.Tjahuha says success in this role means improved communication, identification and mitigation of risk, accuracy in forecasting/budgeting, mentoring and uplifting others and accuracy in reporting. He aspires to become one of the leading experts in management accounting and strategic management. He also looks forward to taking on more managerial responsibilities and potentially taking a lead in driving sustainable business practices. He believes in responsible behaviour. “I believe as young people, we should become more responsible for our lives,” he concludes.
