Prepaid electricity purchase via FNB cellphone banking ? a hit
FNB Namibia this week said that its offering of buying prepaid electricity via FNB cell phone banking has been hugely popular since its launch on 22 February 2011. Since February 2012 there has been a steady increase in customers purchasing electricity via this easy and convenient challenge.
Desery van Wyk, Manager Cell Phone Banking said in a press release: ?Our customers have taken to this offering in a great way and we have received numerous compliments for making it possible. A thank you from our side also goes to the City of Windhoek for assisting us in being innovative and being open to new avenues in order to make life for our customers that much easier.? FNB Namibia also said that this will be rolled out in other towns in Namibia.
?Erongo Red is next, but at this stage we cannot yet commit to a fixed date. Pre-paid electricity purchases will also soon become available via ATMs and online banking ? another exciting venture by FNB Namibia.? Van Wyk added: ?It is definitely more convenient, affordable and safer for FNB customers as they can now purchase prepaid electricity from the safety and security of their own homes.
No need to pay taxi fees or take time off from your employer to top-up your pre-paid electricity, no need to pay pre-paid electricity in bulk or panic over weekends because you are running out of electricity.
?All you need is a qualifying FNB transactional account, such as a Lifestyle account, CardWise, Bank- Wise, BusinessWise, etc, be registered for FNB CellPhone Banking and your electricity meter number. Best of all, this service is currently free of any bank charges and only the cell phone network fees apply.
?How can we help you?? remains the slogan of FNB Namibia, and living up to that slogan, we saw an opportunity to meet our customers? needs and we worked diligently towards realising that dream.?
