Peugeot 508 voted ?Best Car of the Year? in Spain

LAUNCHED in February 2011, the Peugeot 508 ? the brand?s latest large touring car model ? has picked up the prestigious ?Best Car of the Year? title in Spain, joining Peugeot?s six other models which are past winners.

For the 40th edition of the award organised by the leading daily ABC, 43 models marketed in Spain in 2011 were scrutinised by a jury made up of 52 auto journalists from the country?s specialised and general interest media.

By racking up 186 points, the 508 headed the top three some way in front of the Range Rover Evoque and the Hyundai i40.

Bolstered by a successful launch in Europe during the first half of 2011, followed by its arrival on the Chinese market in July, the 508 is reaffirming the brand?s ambitions on one of its long-standing segments, that of large touring cars.

In both Saloon and SW formats, the 508?s elegant and timeless style, extensive eco-efficient engine range, cutting-edge technologies, onboard comfort and all-round driveability represent a modern offering which dovetails with the aspirations of a dynamic, responsible and demanding clientele.

The 508 is produced in France and in China. With global sales of 123,000 units in 2011, the 508 hit the target set for its launch year. For 2012, the brand has confirmed its target of over 180,000 508s sold worldwide of which 30% went to China.

In 2012, the European 508 offering will be enhanced by HYbrid4 full diesel hybrid technology, marking a world first on the 3008 HYbrid4. The 508 RXH will be marketed as of early spring followed by the 508 HYbrid4 saloon car.
