Own power generation dims
Namibia produced 78 401 MWh of electricity in July, while 284 776 MWh were imported, the latest data by the Namibia Statistics Agency (NSA) shows. Compared to the same month in 2018, the own-generation sub-index dropped by 29%. The NSA attributed the decline to the slowdown in the generation of electricity that was mainly obtained from the Camelthorn Business Venture Solar IPP, Ruacana and Ombepo Energy Wind IPP Power Stations. The import sub-index was 12% lower than that of a year ago. According to the NSA, this was mainly to the decrease of the electricity imported from Day Ahead Mar-ket-SAPP and Eskom Orange River Power Stations. Namibia exported 9 336 MWh in July.
