Our quest to honor God

EUNICE ANN VAN ZYL WRITES:By God’s amazing grace we have entered the year 2019. Those who have received this revelation from the Lord, say that Psalm 119 in the Holy Bible speaks about the year 2019.The emphasis of this Psalm is about the benefits of keeping the commandments and obedience to God's word in our quest to honour Him.The beginning of each year finds those who fear and love the Lord seeking His face to hear what is on His heart for the year.It is a biblical certainty that the second coming of the Lord Jesus Christ draws near.This means we are in the time of preparation. I once read a quote by Sir Winston Churchill before he died.“I am ready to meet my Maker, but whether He is ready for the ordeal of meeting me, I do not know.”I believe that this year is a preparation for 2020 which will be the year of the gathering in of the greatest harvest that the Church has ever seen. Like sand on the seashore.It is also the preparation year of the separation of the sheep and goat nations. Matthew 25.Where will our Namibia fit in? Hopefully we will be one of those sheep nations who hears the Word of God and obey it in our quest to honor Him.Hopefully the Church in our nation will become the uncompromising church. That church that with the help of the Holy Spirit will speak the truth fearlessly.We must warn people when we see them willfully and defiantly dishonor God’s word.If we do not warn people, we will be called to account when they perish and end up in hell.John 3:16 - "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life."May this be the year that finds us more able to resist temptation? Temptation comes in different forms. The best that we can do for ourselves is to call upon the help of the Holy Spirit to help us to resist.When Joseph was being tempted by Potiphar's wife, his first concern was his relationship with God.Genesis 39:9 - "There is no one greater in this house than I, nor has he kept back anything from me but you, because you are his wife. How then can I do this great wickedness and sin against God?”May this be the year that finds us praying more earnestly? There are too many needs to pray for to be careless in prayer.When we were on holiday, out of the blue I was reminded of the words of President John F Kennedy. “Ask not what your country can do for you, but what you can do for your country.”This country is the place where we spend our daily lives. We must desire God’s best for her. Not praying for our country, our nation is considered a sin before God.1 Samuel 12:22 – 23 - “For the sake of His great name, the Lord will not reject His people, because the Lord was pleased to make you his own. As for me far be it from me that I should sin against the Lord by failing to pray for you. And I will teach you the way that is good and right. But be sure to fear the Lord and serve Him faithfully with all your heart, consider what great things He has done for you.”God bless you.
