Otjibamba Lodge - stalwart of the north

UNDER new ownership and management, plans are underway to expand Otjibamba Lodge near Otjiwarongo. Otjibamba Lodge has over the years become a popular stopover for visitors on their way to the Etosha National Park and northern Namibia. The lodge is ideally situated south of Otjiwarongo along the B1 main road which runs from Windhoek to the north. Otjibamba Lodge is tastefully designed in an afro-colonial style and furnished to match its natural surroundings. It currently comprises of a main building with a cozy lounge, bar, restaurant and 20 rooms as separate chalets. Another 10 rooms and some guide rooms will also be added in the expansion process. Rooms are laid out as chalets, which offer privacy, space and comfort.

The chalets are exceptionally spacious. Each double room has two double beds, an en-suite bathroom with a bath and shower, a desk, comfortable chairs and a veranda overlooking the bushveld. All rooms are air-conditioned and have telephone and TV facilities.
Conference facilities are available and the main conference hall seats 40 persons. Otjibamba Lodge is known for its superb cuisine and excellent menu. Meals are a la carte and apart from game specialties, the menu includes a choice for almost every taste, with vegetarian dishes also served.

The wine list has also been recognised for a choice selection of South African wines. The lounge and restaurant carries a charm of its own and leads to a well kept garden and swimming pool. Children are welcome and a playground for them was also created.
The lodge lies within its private game ranch of 200 ha and game species such as giraffe, oryx, blue wildebeest, kudu, ostrich and springbok, steenbok, waterbuck and impala can be seen at the lodge.
Visitors are encouraged to enjoy exploring one of the marked walking trails. It provides an opportunity to view the animals on foot and this more personal contact with the wildlife adds to an extra special experience. The duration of walking trails vary between 15 minutes and 2 hours.

The indigenous trees along the walking trails are labeled for identification and the abundant bird life is equally enjoyed by many. A waterhole also lies directly in front of the lodge where wild can be seen drinking in the early mornings or late afternoon.
