Orano Mining Namibia donates soccer kits to youth teams
Orano Mining Namibia donated soccer kits to the value of N$15 000 to two junior teams from the Mondesa Football Academy, based in Swakopmund. The initiative is a community outreach programme for youth in Mondesa, managed on a voluntary basis by three local chefs. The kits are for the under-15 and under-17 teams, and include goalie kits as well.
At the handover, Orano Mining Namibia managing director Tommie Gouws commended the volunteers at the club for their work among the youth. He encouraged the boys to work hard for their dreams, as one can see from recent achievements by Namibians in sport on the international arena that there are great opportunities for young people in the sector.
Orano Mining Namibia considers youth development through sport an important focus area for its corporate social investment strategy, and has continued to support various initiatives in soccer, most notably youth soccer teams and events within the Erongo Region.
