No matric farewell: Grade 12s reflect

ALLEN MUSETABeata Shopumba I really feel bad about not being able to have a matric farewell because this is supposed to be a whole reunion with the grade 12s but now that is not going to happen. After school, the whole grade 12s are planning on meeting and doing something. Elizabeth AmuuloI have both negative as well as positive feelings regarding the cancelation of the matric farewell. The worst part about this is that I wanted to spend time with my classmates and friends, but on the other hand, I was not planning on going to the matric farewell because my main aim is just to pass my matric with good results. Hitjivirue Basha HenguvaI feel devastated that the farewell has been cancelled because I will not get to spend my last moments with my friends and classmates, but I also feel like it is much safer for us that way. We remain grateful to the school for thinking about our health and safety first. Ndapeua NdjihaiineI feel very disadvantaged because this is a moment we have been waiting for for years, even since we were grade one, but due to the Covid-19 pandemic, that will not be possible any more. There is nothing we can do about it, though, because we will definitely not be able to maintain the social distancing. Vevangapi KamburaMy feelings on the situation are negative and positive because I was really looking forward to spending time with my friends and also just hearing from my teachers what they thought of me during high school. It is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity that I have been waiting for. The positive side is that my parents can at least save money and they don’t need to stress about buying clothes for my matric farewell.
