Trustco Group Holdings and Oryx Properties this week announced that they would be partnering to build the Elisenheim residential development’s first shopping centre.
Residents of the gated community have to drive into Windhoek for their daily shopping needs. As a result, 19 934 square metres of commercial land will be sold to Oryx, which plans to develop a strip mall which will offer office space, convenience stores and a service station.
The deputy CEO of Trustco Group, Quinton van Rooyen Jr, said the transaction was part of a continuous drive to enhance and bring quality services closer to the residents, workers and visitors of the Elisenheim estate.
“With the challenge of merging a property development with countryside tranquillity, in one of the last remaining camelthorn forests in the world, on the banks of the Klein Windhoek River, the vision of Elisenheim Lifestyle Estate can now proceed. This transaction is but just another step in fully realising that lifestyle vision,” he said.
The three-phase development of the mall at Elisenheim will start in 2018 and seeks to incorporate this new commercial development into Elisenheim Lifestyle Estate
On the signing of the deal, Carel Fourie, CEO of Oryx, commented: “Oryx Properties Limited is proud to be part of the first commercial development to take place on the Elisenheim estate. This development will offer the residents of Elisenheim with most amenities that a luxury estate should offer.”
Negotiations with various retail franchises are under way to establish the best possible deal in terms of service delivery and price for the residents in Elisenheim.
Signing the agreement on behalf of Trustco Group Holdings, Van Rooyen Jr expressed his delight with the transaction.
“It is once again a great pleasure for us, as a group, to conclude this deal on behalf of the residents of Elisenheim. Oryx Properties has a history of delivering quality developments on time throughout Namibia. We look forward to this project and the swift completion of it in the projected time frame,” he said.
Trustco, with the release of its unaudited financial results for the period ended 30 September 2017, punted its Elisenheim development as the ideal alternative suburb within Windhoek.
“Elisenheim currently has approximately 4 265 residents and construction workers that enter the estate on a daily basis. This number is growing by the month as Elisenheim Development is becoming ‘the area to live in’ in the Windhoek basin,” it said in a recent statement.
