Nesongano takes up new role at Old Mutual

Iréne-Mari van der WaltOld Mutual recently announced the appointment of Mufaro Nesongano as their communication and Old Mutual Foundation manager. This change has seen Nesongano step out of his place as corporate communications, online media and sponsorships manager at Namibia Wildlife Resorts Limited (NWR). Nesongano says he did not leave NWR with ill intentions. “After spending seven years at NWR, I believe it was time for a new challenge,” he says. He believes that his task at Old Mutual is not to reinvent the wheel, but to add his own personal touch to the existing operations. “The idea is not to change what has been working for the past 101 years. However, the aim is to contribute my experience and knowledge to the well-established communication system that the team has established,” says Nesongano.Nesongano says he is excited to broaden his horizons by gaining knowledge and experience in a sector that is new to him. “The major difference is that these two organisations operate in two different sectors. The new opportunity will thus allow me to learn about a new sector,” he says. Nesongano believes that his work is integral to the corporate sphere. “At the heart of any relationship is the ability to communicate successfully. Thus, if we are to be successful, we ought to master the art of communication. Through this, our purpose will be understood, which will ensure we can better serve our customers,” says Nesongano. Nesongano holds a degree in journalism and communication from the Polytechnic of Namibia, now the Namibia University of Science and Technology. Prior to joining Namibia Wildlife Resorts, Nesongano was the marketing and public relations officer at the Namibia Business Innovation Centre (NBIC). He also has experience in radio and television presenting. Nesongano’s appointment follows Mauriza Fredericks’s promotion from manager of communication and social responsibility to the position of brand manager.
