Nande wins Windhoek Open

This past weekend the Windhoek Golf & Country Club (WGCC) proudly hosted another fantastic Windhoek Lager Open Championship which was won by Likius Nande.The WGCC would like to extend a very warm thanks to Windhoek Lager for coming to the fore at the 11th hour and making this event possible. Championships like these will not be possible without your amazing and generous financial support. The course was presented in good nick compared to a year ago, which was attested to by many a player especially those that do not play regularly and with a seamlessly run competition by Steve Basson as the Golf Director. The tournament was well supported and attracted 16 more players than in 2017 (2018 -60 players), not only from Windhoek, but many travelling quite some distance from towns such as Swakopmund, Walvis Bay, Oranjemund, Gobabis and Tsumeb. WGCC would like to thank each player that came out and participated. 54 holes over two days in a hot and very windy Sunday is no easy task and some excellent golf was played throughout all the divisions with Likius Nande coming out on top as the overall winner for the weekend of the Windhoek Lager Windhoek Open Champion for 2018. A special word of congratulations to all the juniors that took part in this event, competing not only amongst themselves but with the entire field in their respective divisions. These young golfers are playing at a very high level and we wish to also congratulate all involved with junior golf for their efforts put in to guide and produce excellent talent for the future, and, hopefully, future winners of tournaments like the Windhoek Open.Thank you again to Windhoek Lager for making this weekend a great success.The coming weekend the club will host the Oktoberfest Betterball competition jointly sponsored by Kalahari Wire and World of Hygiene on 20 October.The results for the Windhoek Lager Windhoek Open are as follows:Overall winners.
