My online shopping experience
Staff reporter - Our food supplies at home were running dangerously low and I suddenly experienced a momentary flash of genius: It was time for my first online shopping experience!
After logging onto the Pick n Pay online shopping website (www.buyonline.com.na) and registering as a new user, I managed to place my first order of N$565-83, which included a delivery fee of N$40.
I learned that there is no minimum amount for deliveries and that deliveries made outside Windhoek to areas such as Elisenheim or Omeya, are charged at N$80. They also offer customers an extra option where they can collect the groceries themselves at the Pick n Pay Auas Valley branch for a standard admin fee of N$25.
Customer care
Of course I experienced a few mishaps along the way, such as discovering that I had mistyped my contact details after placing my order. Luckily, the online store has a customer care contact number which can be found at the top of the website screen when placing an order. I managed to contact them and provided them with my correct contact details.
I was a bit concerned about entering a password as well as my banking details. The Pick n Pay online team advised me to ensure that I had the necessary safety measures in place on my computer. They also advised me to ensure that I activate the setting on my bank account, which requests that a one time pin (OTP) is entered before a payment can be authorised.
I was very excited when my groceries were delivered. Thanks to the online shopping team at Pick n Pay for assisting and educating me along the way. I know who to call when our cupboards get empty again!
