MultiChoice launches DStv Mobile WALKA in Windhoek

The launch of the Walka follows a long line of technology innovations associated with MultiChoice ? including the Drifta and Drifta USB and DStv?s High Definition PVR decoders and integrated customer service tools on DStv.com. In a press release General Manager of MultiChoice Namibia, Marius Burger, says MultiChoice Namibia is committed to making continuous investments in new technologies and content, ensuring that customers are kept at the cutting edge of television technology.

?Technology continues to transform the way the Namibian consumers access news, information and entertainment ? for example our high definition channels and PVR decoders allow subscribers to take control on when and how they watch programming on DStv.?

The Walka device is portable, slim, light-weight and has an inbuilt signal receiver that lets you receive the DVB-H signal and content in areas where there is DVB-H coverage (Windhoek only). The device does not require Wi-Fi, 3G or PC connectivity. For those who are currently Windhoek based DStv Premium subscribers, the Walka package known as Maxi Plus (15 channels) will be provided at no extra subscription.

All subscribers have to do, is make a once off purchase of the Walka at N$649.00. Non premium DStv subscribers can choose either a Mini package (11 channels for N$33.60 per month) or the Maxi Package (14 channels for N$84.00 per month). The channels in all packages are carefully selected to ensure they meet diverse viewing interests ranging from news, sports, movies, kids programmes to music.

A separate TV license for the Walka is payable in terms of the Namibian Broadcasting Act No. 9 of 1991.
