MTC most admired brand in Nam
Mshasho is the most African admired brand in Namibia.

Lazarus Jacobs, the executive director of Paragon Investment, hosted an online show under the theme “Most Admired Brands in Namibia” on Friday. “Brands provide peace of mind and they express who we are,” Jacobs said.
Speaking online from Johannesburg, Thebe Ikalafeng, the founder of Brand African, highlighted the methodology used in the survey to determine the top performing brands in Namibia and Africa as a whole. He further provided insight and highlighted the main findings of the survey.
The survey covered a comprehensive coverage of 27 African countries which represents 80% of the population and over 80% of Africa’s gross domestic product (GDP).
Only 13% of the brands that are admired by Africans are African, implying that over 85% of brands that Africans love in every country are not African. Therefore, global brands are dominating, while African brands are faltering.
The reason why global brands are performing well in Africa is simply because they think locally and act globally. They come up with solutions that meet local needs and deliver it to global standards.
Overall
The Nike brand tops the chart of overall admired brand in Africa followed by Adidas, Samsung, Coca-Cola, Apple, MTN and Puma. With regards to the most admired financial services, Go Bank tops the chart follow by First bank and Eco bank in Africa.
With regard to media, 76% of media services dominating in Africa are non-African. BBC tops the chart followed by DStv, CNN, Aljezeera and MTN.
Namibia
Overall, the most admired brands in Namibia is Nike followed by Adidas and Apple.
Namibian brands such as MTC and Mshasho came in 7th and 8th position respectively on the overall chart of the most admired brands in Namibia.
The most admired Namibian brand in Namibia is MTC followed by Mshasho, Top score, GMP, Tafel Lager, Telecom and Windhoek Lager.
With regard to media, the most admired media brand in Namibia is DSTV followed by NBC, CNN and Netflix.
FNB Namibia is the most admired financial services brand in Namibia followed by Bank Windhoek, Old Mutual Namibia and Standard Bank Namibia.

Overall, the Mshasho brand, which is owed by Namibia’s musical giant King Tee Dee formally known as The Dogg, is the most admired African brand in Namibia followed by DStv, MTN, Windhoek Lager and MTC.
Commenting on the findings, Jacobs pointed out that he was surprised and proud to see how well Namibian brands performed.
“If you look at Mshasho and GMP, this were brands that were started from scratch as the founders are below the age of 45.”
These brands are really connected to their target markets and it could be the only reason why they are performing well to ensure that they remain relevant over time.
