MTC Hopsol league provides quality youth soccer
The 2021 MTC Hopsol youth soccer league made for a splendid show as the best young soccer stars faced off.

The 2021 MTC Hopsol youth soccer league concluded with a series of nail-biting matches that left parents and spectators on the edges of their seats.
Cynthea Balzar, the MTC Hopsol youth soccer league administrator, said the matches come as a highlight after many struggles amidst the pandemic.
“We’ve actually been playing since January. We had to stop the league for a while due to the pandemic,” she said.
Certain age groups were also temporarily put on the sidelines to accommodate their examinations, but over this past weekend, the league was back in its full glory.
It accounted for the talents of more than 1 000 young players and saw them give their all on the field.
In the under-nine category, Sport Klub Windhoek (SKW) reigned victorious after a 2-0 win over the Athletic Football Academy (ACFA) in the finals. This came after their 7-2 victory over the Deutscher Turn und Sportverein (DTS) in the semi-finals. Swallows emerged as the u/9 team of the year.
The ACFA A-team was unable to make victors of themselves in both the u/9 and u/11 categories as they lost 1-4 to the u/9 ACFA B-team and again sustained a 2-7 loss to DTS A in the u/11 group.
DTS A earned a win over ACFA B in the semi-finals of the under-11 category with a 7-2 win. However, they escaped the clutches of the SKW A-team with only one goal ahead in their 2-3 win. MH Greef managed to take up their place as the MTC Hopsol u/11 team of the year.
ACFA fought tooth and nail against Football School Windhoek (FSW) in the under-12 semi-finals and again in the finals against SKW. ACFA managed to draw both matches with 0-0 in their semi-finals and 1-1 in the finals. ACFA further cemented their reign as champions with the title of team of the year.
Meanwhile, FSW clinched victory in the under-13 category as they tied with ACFA at three goals each in the semi-finals only to beat out DTS with 3-1 in the finals. Despite their loss in the semi-finals, DTS emerged victorious as team of the year in their age group.
