Mobile Directory Services launched
A product to give Namibians a more affordable, more accessible and more user friendly telephone directory was officially launched in Windhoek.
“A fact that nobody can deny anymore is that we are currently living in the era of information technology. The industrial age is long gone and businesses who are still operating in that age will feel the down scaling of their business and may become obsolete. Mobile Directory Services is an innovative step in the direction of capitalizing on information technology and encourages all business to move forward from industrial age thinking and doing business to information age thinking and doing business,” said the directors of Mobile Directory Services at the launch.
“When we consider firstly how many mobile users we have in Namibia and secondly the affordability of mobile phones compared to the affordability of personal computers, laptops or television, it makes sense that many Namibians and people around our globe invest more and more each day in mobile phones. The reason for this is quite obvious: mobile phones today allow users access to internet, e-mails, watching television (even DStv in Namibia) and watch downloaded movies and various activities. Not only can mobile phone users take advantage of these features but they can use this anywhere in the world as long as their mobile phones receive a recognized network.
“Businesses can use mobile advertisements to either reach a large number of people over a vast area or they can choose to market their specific products or services to a specific group of people. These people will be able to access their business profile, product and services or other information wherever they might be with their mobile phones. Business owners can also avail the latest news of their products and services to their customers and potential customers.”
Mobile Directory Services has 100 registered companies six months after its inception in the market. It is a 100% Namibian owned corporation, that was founded and registered by Messrs Ebson Booysen, Nigel Hill, Albertus Kangandji and Willem Hough.
