Make Windhoek a cycle friendly city
DR. A.C. OBHOLZER WRITES:
Many citizens from the poorer Western Suburbs don’t have a vehicle to get to work on a shared basis.
A few walk to work, but most depend on municipal busses and taxis to get to work.
Windhoek is eighty percent flat with a few hills. Cycle transport is an option, but there are no cycle friendly safe lanes for cyclists.
Could the municipality look into establishing cycle lanes on the main arterial roads from suburbs to the city?
This option is healthy. Movement of mind and body is life; keep moving and live. It is also carbon friendly for the ecology.
This user friendly, healthy, safe cycle option, will create a new industry. See China.
