Michelline NawatisesIt all started in the ‘80s. Jeveane Basson was born and raised in Okahandja. His career path started out as a sales representative, and then a technician at Fast Fire Services. Afterwards, he started at MultiChoice Namibia as a customer service representative in the Walk-In Centre. Basson then moved to the Call Centre. “Later, I applied for the field services officer vacancy advertised internally, which I got, and I have been enjoying it ever since,” he says.Basson is field services officer at MultiChoice Namibia’s head office in Windhoek and his job includes the accreditation and supervising of MultiChoice’s installers and ensuring customers experience the best quality installations and viewing experience when they take on the journey with DStv or GOtv.His biggest challenge has been the impact of change within his career. When asked by Careers what his typical day in the office looks like, he mentions assisting Multichoice Namibia’s accredited installers, doing quality assessments and providing training and guidance to the installers whenever they need it.When he is not working, Basson enjoys watching sports and spending time with the ones he loves. “The things that inspire me include seeing people grow and achieving their goals,” he says. The advice he would give to aspiring young people out there is to believe in themselves and not give up on what and who they want to be in life. In the near future, Basson plans to upskill himself within MultiChoice Namibia and finish studying. If he had a wish, it would be having the knowledge to cure any disease and it is interesting to note that one of his greatest fears is “not knowing”. Basson says the best phase in his life has been “lifechanging” as he became a father of a beautiful daughter. And with this officer having a heart of gold, his one opportunity, if he had it, would be bringing peace all over the world, despite what happened in the past.
