Minister of Fisheries, please take the money plus assets of the Fishrot 6 and use it to pay the fishermen that suffered at the hands of this Fishrot 6 for more than three years.
Fishermen have lost their houses, cars, etc. They have lost all their belongings because of this scam. Many fishermen are without work, struggling to make ends meet.
Please Mr. Minister, look at the fishermen in Walvis Bay - pelagic fishermen and white fish fishermen.
The horse mackerel quota was taken away from the fishermen. The Namsov quota was reduced to a small amount.
The pilchard season has been closed for over three years. Company boats were sold and factories retrenched all personnel.
We have to work in other countries and leave our homes and families to survive. Fishermen have been asking for a quota to support us in situations like this. Fishermen’s widows are also struggling.
