Rivaldo KavangaThe Omaheke Regional Council has appointed Dylan DaTrindade Mukoroli (27) as community liaison officer in the regional division of gender equality, poverty eradication and social welfare. The appointment came into effect on 3 May 2021. As community liaison officer, Mukoroli will act as a link between the Omaheke communities and the regional division of gender equality, poverty eradication and social welfare. He will coordinate activities and communication between the two parties. Mukoroli says he has been working with local communities in the Omaheke Region for some time now and is fully aware of the shortcomings, the planning, and the implementation of programmes. “I am now in an institutional capacity to facilitate the necessary change,” he says.Since Mukoroli’s first year at university he has been working at development consulting firms and NGOs such as Integrated Social Development Services and Sister Namibia. He says as he was studying the theory, he was also testing it practically. According to Mukoroli this has allowed him to garner a thorough understanding of programme development and strategic planning.Mukoroli has a diploma in lifelong learning and community education and also has an honours degree in lifelong learning and community development. He adds that he was a technical aide to the governor of the Omaheke Region, Pijoo Nganate, and while working for the governor they launched Namibia’s first constituency development model, called ‘Restore Omaheke’. Its aims were to outline and plan the kind of development needed in a constituency. Mukoroli says he is now in an institutional capacity to facilitate the necessary change.“Under the wing of the governor came immense pressure to deliver. We had a zero-compromise work ethic,” he says.As a technical aide, Mukoroli worked with vigour on the programmes of the governor’s office, all his youth engagements and also worked on the much-anticipated Incubation Hub.“To work hand in hand with other government offices, ministries and agencies (OMAS) and understand technical capacity. It is my wish to have a greater working relationship with other OMAS, so that we marry resources and manpower to collectively deal with issues,” Mukoroli says.
