Vragmotorbestuurders wat vrag tussen Suid-Afrika en Namibië vervoer, blokkeer sedert gister die pad tussen die Ariamsvlei- en Nakopgrenspos met hul lorries.
Dit is om beswaar aan te teken teen die nuwe Covid-19-regulasie wat bepaal iemand wat die land binnekom, moet 'n negatiewe PCR-toetsuitslag vir dié virussiekte kan toon wat nie ouer is as 72 uur nie.
Dié langafstand lorriedrywers sê hulle is nie deur die regering hierin geken nie, terwyl 'n reuserol speel in die ekonomiese groei van die land.
"Ons stel ons lewens elke liewe dag in gevaar om kos en ander noodsaaklike goedere hierheen te bring, insluitend medikasie wat die ministerie van gesondheid (en maatskaplike dienste) veral nou tydens die pandemie nodig het terwyl die meeste hospitale se medikasie op raak, " lui hulle verklaring.
Hulle sê hulle moet N$750,00 vir elke PCR-toets betaal. Hulle sê kitstoetse is veel goedkoper, maar teen die regulasies.
