Land available at Outapi
THE demand for housing at Outapi in the Omusati Region is still high and the town council decided to enter into partnerships with the National Housing Enterprise (NHE) and OB Davids in an effort to eliviate this problem. Outapi is the capital of the Omusati Region and was proclaimed as a town on 22 July 1997.
The Manager: Local Economic Development of the town council, Elizabeth Nyeuvo Ekandjo, pointed out that land is available at Outapi, but that the council does not have sufficient funds to develop the erven. “Therefore we entered into a private public partnership with the NHE to assist in the servicing of the erven and the construction of houses.
The council has already surveyed the erven.” She said with the high demand for housing at Outapi, the council also entered into a partnership with OB Davids. “We call upon investors and residents to purchase land at Outapi at affordable prices which are negotiable. The value of the buildings to be set up on the erven would play an important role in deciding the prices of the erven,” said Ekandjo.
The council also established an information centre in partnership with the Joint Consultative Council (JCC). Information related to small and medium enterprises (SMEs) is available at the centre and Ekandjo called on the SMEs to make use of the centre to help them in developing their businesses. The open market at Outapi is very popular with the approximately 5 000 inhabitants as well as visitors to the town, who buy either food or clothes at the market.
