Koleos: Renault’s flagship SUV

The new Renault KOLEOS is an embodiment of Renault’s new design language and stuns with its distinctive new styling.

New Koleos belongs to Renault’s high-end line-up, visibly apparent in its stylish, yet bold exterior lines. Its dynamic stance is further emphasised by its large alloy wheels and low roofline.

The assertive stance and personality of the new Koleos are accentuated by a number of innovative design features, such as bright chrome front-end embellishments, extending the front of the headlights across the full length of the wing to visually lengthen the bonnet and ensure that new Koleos stands out, as do the tail lights, which wrap over the rear wings to enhance its solid stance.

The front and rear lights of the Koleos replicate the full LED lighting signature that is now instantly distinguishable as part of the new Renault design language.

The new Renault Koleos is revolutionary when it comes to the on-board experience.

Meticulous care has been taken to ensure that the interior of the Koleos ensures the wellbeing of its passengers.

As an example, the Koleos features stylish satin-finish chrome for the steering wheel inserts, gear lever and air vent surrounds, along with a durable and pleasant-to-the-touch finish for the centre console. The interior also features cushion-backed materials for the dashboard and door panels.

Travel pleasure is further enhanced through customisable LED cabin lighting with a palette of hues ranging from green and blue, to yellow, red or violet, to complement the mood of the driver and passengers.

Another innovative feature worthy of premium models is the front cup holder that can be chilled or heated.

Whether sitting in the front or rear, all occupants are indulged when it comes to refined travelling comfort.

Not only are the Koleos’s front seats extremely comfortable thanks to their enveloping design and variable-density foam, but they are deemed the very biggest in the model’s class.

In addition to having one of the longest wheelbases in its class, the Koleos’s wheelbase (2 710 mm, overall length: 4 670 mm) frees up record roominess for all occupants.

This record cabin space is further complemented by a large configurable boot and numerous practical storage solutions.

The 464-litre boot features a convenient removable floor positioned at the same height as the sill to form a flat floor that houses a full-size spare wheel.

The new Koleos is in the forefront of the SUV world, offering eye-catching high-end equipment, including an extra-large capacitive touchscreen (ip to 8.7”) with exclusive Renault R-Link2 functionality for an enriched driving experience, voice recognition for on-board GPS navigation, hands-free telephony and radio, as well as Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Convenience is heightened with the addition of a rear parking camera, cruise control and speed limiter.

Uncompromised Safety

Drivers can be assured that the Koleos offers safety of the highest level, with a 5-star Euro NCAP Safety rating. Renault Koleos offers a plethora of features to ensure both passive and active safety for driver and passengers, namely six airbags – two frontal, two lateral thorax, two curtain - plus an active vent for the passenger airbag; satellite sensors to detect lateral impact early; G sensors – two on the side and one on the front; and a seat track position sensor, which controls airbag deployment by recording seat track position.

Passive safety is provided through structure innovation for adult protection, to help limit crash energy impact on occupants.

Standard safety features also include ABS, EBD, EBA, ESP, ASR, HAS, cornering fog lights, blind spot warning and park assist.

Off-road ability compatible with everyday use

In keeping with the Renault design strategy introduced by Laurens van den Acker in 2010, the new Koleos is covered by the ‘EXPLORE’ design pillar, which stands for robustness and a taste for adventure.

This is immediately evident in the model’s ground clearance (up to 210 mm), which is among the highest in the market.

The Koleos’s go-anywhere ability is boosted by its departure angles of 19 and 26 degrees respectively.

Efficient, easy-to-use 4x4 technology

The ALL MODE 4x4-i transmission available features technology that has been proved on millions of Renault’s Alliance vehicles worldwide. This all-wheel-drive system permanently monitors grip levels to guarantee optimal traction whatever the conditions.

Unlike many competitor models, the Koleos continues to feature a control switch that allows drivers to choose the transmission mode. Very easy to use, it is situated to the right of the steering wheel and enables the driver to select one of three modes, namely 2WD, 4WD AUTO or the exclusive 4WS LOCK.

Advanced CVT transmission

The X-Tronic automatic transmission was designed to deliver greater driving enjoyment and reduced fuel consumption compared with conventional automatic transmissions.

Its benefits range from instant response when accelerating rapidly, to a smoother, quieter ride and optimised fuel consumption at constant speeds.

Thanks to its variable ratios, X-Tronic transmission proposes an infinite number of gears to ensure that engine revs and load are constantly optimised for efficient fuel consumption and low noise levels.

The driver also has the option to select a seven-speed sequential mode to benefit from engine braking.

RANGE OFFERING

The new Renault Koleos is available in two trim levels – Expression and Dynamique, comprehensively specced from the base level upwards.

It is powered by a 2.5 petrol engine CVT (4x2 & 4x4), with a power output of 126 kW, 233Nm of torque, CO2 emissions of 188 g / 100 km and controlled fuel consumption from 8.8 litres / 100 km.
