‘n Agressiewe en beseerde Anchieta-kobra, ook bekend as die Angolese kobra, het vroeër vandag vir paniek gesorg by ‘n konstruksieterrein op Otjiwarongo waar werkers besig was om dienste na nuwe woonerwe in Uitbreiding 10 aan te lê.
Die slang van meer as 2 m het beserings aan sy bo- en middellyf opgedoen toe ‘n laaigraaf bosse verwyder het in die gebied tussen Uitbreiding 6 en die Karundu Junior Sekondêre Skool.
Die werk op die terrein het vir langer as ‘n uur tot stilstsand gekom nadat een van die werkers die kobra gewaar het waar dit probeer het om van die gewerskaf weg te vlug.

Otjiwarongo se slangvanger, mnr. Bennie Hollander (foto), is saam met ‘n natuurbewaarder van die ministerie van die omgewing en toerisme, mnr. Victor Shituleni, ontbied. Hulle het die slang verwyder en die gemoedere kalmeer. - Nampa
