Inflation prints at 2.2% in November

Jo-Maré Duddy – Overall inflation in Namibia settled at 2.2% last month, down from 2.3% in October and lower than the 2.5% a year ago.
Data released by the Namibia Statistics Agency (NSA) this morning shows overall food inflation at 7.5%, the same as October, but significantly higher than the 2.9% recorded in November 2019.
The two other heavyweights in the Namibian consumer basket – housing, water and electricity, as well as transport – remained in deflationary territory.
November’s rate for housing, water and electricity was -1.3%, the same as the previous month and down from 1.9% in November 2019.
Transport inflation remained at -1.2%, compared to 0.1% a year ago.
