HJ Electrical – Team Moldova
HENNIE Visser, proprietor of HJ Electrical (Electrical Contractor) is an ardent supporter of Namibian Motocross. Not only did he renew the complete electrical wiring at Gallina Motocross Park, he also took over patronage of the two young riders from the Republic of Moldova.
It is the first time that the Windhoek Motocross Club welcomes riders from this far East European country. The riders are brothers Nicolae and Mihai Cociu. They are Moldova’s posterboys in motocross and successfully represented their home country all over Eastern Europe. The boys mainly race in Moldova, Ukraine, Romania, Russia, Bulgaria, Hungary and Slovakia.
Nicolae Cociu was born on August 27th 1985. He started MX riding at a very young age and at the tender age of 15 he started to race at international level. Nicolae became Romanian champion between 2001 and 2004 in the 125cc Class. He was overall third in the 125cc Ukrainian Championship in 2005 and 2006. And in 2008 Nicolae won the East European championship in the Open Class (450cc).
His younger brother Mihai was born on November 9th 1991 and has been racing motocross since he turned eight years old. Mihai won the Romanian championship in the 65cc Class in 2001 and 2002. Thereafter he won the Romanian 85cc championship in 2003 and 2004. In 2005 and 2006 Mihai won the 85cc Ukrainian championship in Motocross as well as the Supercross category.
A highlight of his career in 2008 he became EastEuropean champion in the 125cc Junior as well as in the 125cc Senior Class. With this kind of reputation the two brothers will mingle with the best. The bikes for these two young riders will be generously provided by Honda Pupkewitz and by Honda Muxima Racing. The Moldova team can be seen racing at the 1st leg of the annual Namibian MX Inter-Series on 7th November at the Coastal Cement Works Track near Swakopmund and one week later at the Gallina Motocross Park north of Windhoek.
