Hino wins Truck of the Year title again
HINO Trucks latest 338 model has been judged the 2011 Medium Duty Truck of the Year in the United States. This accolade marks the second year in succession that the American Truck Dealers? (ATD) division of the National Automotive Dealers Association (NADA) has bestowed this honour on a Hino truck.
The 268 model received the award in 2010. The heavy duty award went to the Kenworth T700 truck-tractor with the Paccar MX engine. This is the third year these awards have been made, with judging by a panel of prominent journalists from North American trucking magazines. The trucks were judged on innovation, design, fuel economy, driver and owner satisfaction, ease of maintenance and safety.

Fukaya spent several years with Toyota South Africa as the Senior Co-ordinating Director from Toyota Motor Corporation, Japan, before joining Hino.
Competiton for the Hino consisted of the Ford F650/F750 Super Duty, International TerraStar, Isuzu NPR Eco-Max, Kenworth T370 and the Peterbilt 337 4x4 The winning Hino 338 model features Hino?s signature J08E series 8-litre diesel engine producing 260-horsepower.
It has become the premier choice for a wide range of operators, from beverage delivery, municipalities, construction, utilities, petrol and gas deliveries and waste removal/ recycling. In addition to a 13% improvement in engine torque Hino?s 338 model offers an industry-leading 5-year/400 000 km warranty.
