South Africa’s bestselling vehicle and undoubtedly one of Namibia’s most revered, the all-conquering Toyota Hilux is now available in special-edition “Black” guise for those seeking to stand our from the crowd.

Exclusive to the flagship 2.8 GD-6 double-cab range and available in a choice of three striking hues – Glacier White, Chromium Silver and Graphite Grey, this special edition comes with a host of designer touches, created to elevate the Black above its more subdued stable mates.

The history of Hilux has been punctuated by many special editions over the years (Dakar, Legend 35, -40 and -45, as well as Heritage) to underline its distinctive ability to combine exclusivity with mass-market appeal, while remaining true to its tough mandate. This still holds true for the all-new Hilux Raider Black.

This new special edition comes with distinctive detailing such as a black gloss grille, roof and bumper insert, colour-coded fender, door handles, mirrors, and 18-inch tri-spoke wheels to round out this hardcore Hilux.

On the interior you also get a hearty helping of dark allure, thanks to a black leather interior with silver stitching and carbon-fibre panel accents, which adds a premium feel to everyone's favourite bakkie.

While there’s a hint of retro thanks to the distinctive anthracite roof and jet black accents, the cabin treatment and techno features are bang up-to-date.

Some of the standard fare that appears on the Raider menu includes a full colour touch screen with reverse camera, 4,2” TFT multi-information display screen, Bluetooth, cruise control, automatic climate control, steering wheel controls, electronic 4x4 switch gear, Hill Assist and Downhill Assist Control (the latter is on 4x4 models only), iMT (manual versions), auto lights and a full suite of safety kit ranging from seven airbags to VSC and A-TRAC (4x4 models only) to name just a few of the highlights.

Just as a reminder, the 2755cc GD engine offers buyers a robust 130 kW and an effortless 420 Nm of torque from 1 600 to 2 400 rpm in six-speed manual guise, while the six-speed automatic transmission versions receive a boost to 450 Nm over the same rpm span.

For all the added attitude and goodies you get, the Hilux Raider Black is an excellent value proposition, as it all costs you just N$30 000 over the standard models.

Pupkewitz Toyota has confirmed the Black Edition is in stock and ranges from N$525 700 for the Hilux Raider Black 2.8 GD-6 Raised Body six-speed manual. - Quickpic and own reporting
