Help for farmers in Otjozondjupa
Communal farmers in the region can start registering for assistance from today.
OTJIWARONGO - The ministry of agriculture, water and land reform has called on interested vegetable and poultry farmers in the Otjozondjupa region to register for seeds and material assistance being funded by the ministry.
The agricultural extension technician at Otjiwarongo, Saima Nambuli, on Friday said the ministry is implementing two new projects in horticulture and poultry value chain development schemes starting in January 2021.
Nambuli said the new projects have a fund allocation of more than N$900 000 for both vegetable and poultry farmers in the entire Otjozondjupa.

“The two projects are not for commercial farmers, but for existing farmers in vegetable and poultry sectors farming in the communal areas, resettlement farms, urban and urban periphery areas,” she said.
The qualifying farmers will receive free vegetable seeds of their choice like tomatoes, onions, cabbages, and green papers among others, while poultry farmers will receive chicken feed, chicks, veterinary medicines, chick incubators, and egg trays.
“The registration of these farmers will take place at our offices in Otjiwarongo from 14 December 2020 to 14 January 2021,” she said. - Nampa
