Hanekom a winner at Omeya

Last Saturday saw the playing of the second round of the PPS Medal Series at Omeya Golf Club.
A comfortable field of 40 players participated with Francois Hanekom coming out tops with a superb gross score of 69, whilst the best nett was won by George Lumley carding a 67.

• Tomorrow the club hosts the ninth round of the 10-round AfricaOnline Race to Omeya Members Cup series. After the 10th event two teams comprising of 12 members will be selected and will compete against each other in a Ryder Cup format on 28 and 29 October.

SHIPENA WINS MONTHLY MEDAL
The sixth edition of the Windhoek Lager Monthly Medley took place last Saturday. An excellent field of 55 players decided to take on the competition.
At the end of the day, two men stood tall with scores of five under their handicaps. Clinton Dodds won the stableford competition with 41 points, while Gerson Shipena won the medal competition on 66 nett.
Shipena’s round included a hole-out from 158 metres on hole 18 for eagle and several birdies. The then 8-handicapper commented afterwards that it was his most satisfying day on the course, ever.
