Tomorrow Omeya Golf Club kicks off round one of its 2017 Dulux Betterball series. Forty-three teams have entered for round 1, while spots are still available.

Gielie Bester, director of JF Paints/Dulux, confirmed that they will be spending in excess of N$30 000 for five overall series prizes. This is over and above the N$18 000 allocated for daily voucher prizes. Teams need to play a minimum of three out of the four events to qualify for the overall prizes.

Round 2 will be played on 3 June. Omeya has expressed its sincere gratitude to Dulux for their ongoing support and for the 40% increase in sponsorship. Omeya welcomes all players across Namibia to enter this fun series.

RÖSSMUND

Last Saturday a good field of entries were received for the monthly “feeshing” competition sponsored by Novanam.

Weather conditions were just right – leading to some golfers shooting excellent scores with handicaps being chopped left right and centre.

Two-clubs came from G Murasiki, D Haimbondi, C de Klerk and H Ndjendja.

The overall medal winner with a fantastic round of 62 nett was Mark Jacobs. Other winners were “A” division: Michael Ludeke 67 nett; “B” division T Shitaleni 69 nett; “C” division C Lawrence 72 nett; Ladies: Rina Knight 76 nett; Junior: Wayne Profitt 75 nett.

• Tomorrow the course will play host to the annual Langer Heinrich charity golf day. By yesterday the field was already full with 36 teams having entered. There will be a shotgun start at 10:00.
