Lisias Matheus started his career at Pupkewitz as a graduate intern in 2019. After six months he was promoted to salesperson for the power tools section at Megabuild Windhoek Central. Nine months later, he got another promotion, this time to sales representative at Oshakati Megabuild. A year and two months later, he was promoted to branch manager of the new Megabuild branch at Outapi.

“I would describe my journey at Pupkewitz Megabuild as a representation of resounding growth, with so many diversified skills having accumulated through myriads of business execution points. However, it had pervasive challenges to withstand, and unique opportunities to leverage. My biggest accomplishment has always been an ability to embrace responsibility and accountability for mutual business growth and to consequently give birth to my active role of a branch manager,” he says.

Matheus holds a bachelor’s degree in marketing, bundled with a diploma in sales from Namibia University of Science and Technology (Nust).

Reaping rewards

The opportunity to experience new learning curves every day is the best thing about his job, he says, adding that he has learned how to profitably manage businesses by leveraging systems. “I have also developed a sound level of emotional intelligence, imperative for good work ethics.”

On a daily basis, he ensures that operational goals and financial objectives are met. He achieves this by remaining the centre of the team. He believes in building the right communication and execution channels within the team.

Matheus encourages young people who aspire to leadership positions to build a consistent mode of accountability and responsibility. “They must also aspire to develop a sense of urgency for personal development and, most importantly, the highest code of humility. It is rewarding!” he says.
