Elevated Excellence Academy is an online platform and acts as a classroom where learners from grade 8 to 12 can go and access tutors if they need help in any subject.
They can access help through any of the three tutors that they can book and learners also have the opportunity to join a WhatsApp group that offers additional help. Elevated Excellence Academy aims to revolutionise the education system in Namibia.
Apart from academic work the website also helps matriculants and learners with CV and cover letter drafting through personal training, drafting and presentation courses that help learners’ CVs stand out.
Annaliisa Shaningwa is the founder of Elevated Excellence Academy. She is a 23-year-old computer science graduate from the University of Namibia and hails from Oshakati. Being a computer science graduate, she built the website and designed the digital posters.
Annaliisa runs the executive and administrative portion alone but has three part-time tutors who help her with the learners. She finances the website and all other operations to ensure learners get tutors for free and says she would love to accommodate more tutors and employees to help learners but her finances cannot cater for that.
“I started this initiative to accommodate individuals, especially the youth, that do not qualify to enrol into tertiary institutions; to help pupils that are struggling with their academics and to uplift interdisciplinary skills in order to create more integrated and enhanced skilled youth; whilst isolating during the Covid-19 pandemic,” says Annaliisa.
She says she would like to update the website so that they can offer more courses and facilitate all courses on their website instead of utilising a third-party application. She wants facilitators to be able to upload their course work on designated profiles and, most importantly, she wants them to reach out to more people.
Annaliisa says she started this initiative to serve as the platform used to give a large number of individuals equal access to opportunities. “Thinking of the magnitude of change I’d like to bring forth, my work will never be done,” she says.
The website also has a section that gives free life-skills advice, which includes a post-school guide. The high school guide aids with university application, career guidance, how to profit from your skill(s) and how to start a business.
