Michelline Nawatises Joel Gariseb was born in Windhoek at the ‘old hospital’ where the ministry of home affairs building is currently located. He did his primary school at ‘Damara Nommer Een Primary School’, which is today is called Auas Primary School. From there, he continued his journey to Baumgardsbruhn-//Anaxas Secondary School and finished school at Okahandja Secondary School in the garden town.He then started working at his uncle’s shop called Express Puncture Repair in the suburbs where he fixed tires. “I worked there until I joined the Pupkewitz group in 2000 through a friend and started my career with a salary of N$75 a week, and here I still stand today. “I have come a long way,” he said proudly.‘A true inspiration’Gariseb is a senior salesman and does general sales in the paint department. He has been part of the Pupkewitz Megabuild family for 20 years now. “The main reason for staying this long with the company is the late Harold Pupkewitz. He was a true inspiration for me on so many levels,” he said. He added that Harold was always there and was willing to help, no matter what. Another other inspiration for him was to work hard for what you want and where you want to be, he said. “Do not settle for less. You need to set a long-term goal and stick to it. We would always share our goals with Pupkewitz as he would personally encourage you to reach your goal.”Only the best for the customerGariseb strives daily to give their customers the best information possible. His days consist of assisting customers as he does one-on-one sales, quotations and invoicing. “I give our customers advice on their paint projects,” he said. He also keeps track of all the latest product knowledge, development and techniques of paints as well as painting styles. His biggest achievement was when he was made acting supervisor for the paint department, and said he one day would like to become a manager at Pupkewitz Megabuild.
