Sinte Mwilima I am Sinte Mwilima, I grew up in Windhoek and I attended Windhoek International School. I am currently studying at the Namibian University of Science and Technology, pursuing an honours degree in business management.Last year when I was doing my internship at Launch Namibia, I had the opportunity to work alongside a lot of Namibian start-ups and I realised, especially during the time when the Covid-19 regulations were stricter, that a lot of these small start-ups lacked a digital presence. Since websites are expensive to create and maintain, we created a simpler and more affordable solution. When coming up with Afrikart (a Namibian online marketplace), I wanted to provide a safe and trustworthy platform for the Namibian consumer to shop safely and conveniently. I wanted to create something that was easy to use, affordable and maintainable. The aim of Afrikart is to connect consumers to businesses on one platform and make it easier to find products in Namibia.When it comes to the services Afrikart provides, we have multiple payment gateways that customers can choose from - we have credit card options, and we are currently looking to have more local payment methods like Pay Today. Afrikart also has shipping companies integrated onto the website. Once a client makes a purchase, it is automatically alerted to the delivery company.Having an online retail service has quite a lot of benefits: It’s affordable, reaching an international client base, because we also market Afrikart to international businesses. So, you get to expand your sales and increase your revenue. In January, we will finally be launching the app version of Afrikart.
