The Eros court league kicked off its current season on 8 August. The league, which was initiated seven years ago, had a good amount of youth participating.

The league is a five-a-side court football league that is played on a court/hard cement surface, separating itself from traditional grass football.

It is designed to involve details and activities that enhance the experience of the players.

It strives to involve activities that are mostly neglected by other similar football tournaments, which makes it more unique from competitors.

It includes the visual recording of matches, interviews of players after or before matches as well as well-designed goal posts which excite football players and makes the experience of scoring more memorable.

It is designed or organised to produce a high-quality court football experience by creatively improving what it offers.

Fast thinking

Hafeni Nepembe, who has been playing in the league since 2014, said “this kind of football requires fast thinking because the pitch is small and the players are only five on a side, which doesn’t give much room”.

According to league organiser Vernon Fenyeho, the league is a demanding project which demands even more after each season.

“With no substantial sponsors on board, it is becoming increasingly costly to maintain for a small social entrepreneur,” he said.

He further added that Covid-19 led to a different ball game in executing this year’s season as it increased the costs of ensuring the season could happen safely.

Finals

The league hosted its finals on 10 October, which marked the end of the season, with a total of 12 teams participating.

Of course, only one team could be victorious, which was Supreme Squad, who won the league.
