Exports tumble in July
Jo-Maré Duddy – Namibia’s exports in July totalled N$4.8 billion, a drop of about 49% compared to the previous month and nearly 28% less than July 2020.
Data released by the Namibia Statistics Agency (NSA) this morning shows July’s imports amounted to about N$7.9 billion, a drop of around 23% month-on-month (m/m) and nearly 21% year-on-year (y/y).
Namibia’s trade deficit for the month under review came in at nearly N$3.2 billion compared to N$902 million in June and N$3.4 billion in July 2020.
Excluding re-exports, Namibia’s exports in July totalled nearly N$2.2 billion, down about N$3.6 billion or 62% from the previous month. Compared to July 2020, the figure is around N$1.1 billion or 34% less.
