Enduro at Neu Heusis this weekend

The Bank Windhoek Namibian Enduro Championship continue on Saturday with round four taking place at Farm Neu Heusis.
In the class for motorbikes up to 200 cc (Class 1), the current top three riders – Marcel Henle (KTM), Tommy Gous (Yamaha) and Ingo Waldschmidt (KTM) – are only separated by six cham­pionship points.
Henle snatched the championship lead from Gous with his victory in the last event at Aranos, while Ingo Waldschmidt (KTM), who had lost championship points due to technical reasons in the first event, has worked himself back into striking distance.
At Neu Heusis, where Waldschmidt won in 2015, he will be seeking to move closer to the championship lead.
The situation is equally close in the motorbikes class with 250 cc and higher. Current championship leader Pascal Henle (KTM), who had a tough time in Aranos finishing fifth, only has a one point lead over Kai Hennes (KTM), while Björn Bierbrauer (Yamaha) is only two points further behind.
Last year’s champion Henner Rusch (KTM), won the last two races of the championship and is back in contention.
In the senior motorbike riders’ class Sven Schneidenberger (KTM) seems unstoppable again this year, having won all three races so far. However, Frank Ahlreip (KTM), currently placed second overall, and Werner Wiese (KTM), overall third, will be ready to challenge Schneidenberger at Neu Heusis.
Jens Rubow (Yamaha), who scored three straight victories in a row, will be up against J.L. Opperman (Honda) and Gary Rowland (Honda) in the Men’s Quad Class (Class 3).
The Ladies Quad Class will see the likes of championship leader Claire Brendel (Honda), last year’s champion Maike Bochert (Honda), Shannon Rowland (Honda) and Jolly Fourie (Yamaha), racing it out.
In the Clubmans Class (Class 7), only two championship points separate Gerald Heiser (KTM) and Jürgen Gladis (KTM). However, Ben Visser (Yamaha) proved that it will not remain an affair between the two in this class, after his win at Aranos six weeks ago.
In the off-road bikes class Karl-Henz Erni (Yamaha) joined the top three in the championship with his first victory of the season in the last event. Championship leader Kurt Hartung (KTM) and second placed junior Lenny Bagwitz (KTM) will have to keep up their early season performances to remain in the lead.
Adam Johnston (Yamaha), Noam Babluki (Kawasaki) and Liam Gilchrist (Husqvarna) are expected to be at the start in the development class.
Farm Neu-Heusis is located 43 km west of Windhoek. The public is invited to attend this exciting event and enjoy the day. From Windhoek, the venue can be reached by driving on the C28/M52 towards Daan Viljoen Game Reserve for approximately 42 km, passing Baumgartsbrunn, Friedenau Dam and Haus Liebig (ghost house) on the left. Shortly after Haus Liebig, a left turn illustrated by signs, will guide to the pit and viewing area.
The Neu Heusis event will be a tough affair with rocky grounds, river beds, and climbs to be tackled by the competitors.
