Employment equity in top posts drops
About 64% of employees in top positions – executive directors, senior management and middle management – in 2016/17 were previously disadvantaged, according to the latest annual report of the Employment Equity Commission (ECC), tabled in Parliament on Wednesday.
This is 2% lower than 2015/16.
The ECC’s figures are based on 877 affirmative action reports, covering 263 720 employees, during the period under review.
About 33% of employees at executive and management level were black men, while black women filled 31% of the positions.
