ECB keur kragtarief-verhoging van 5% goed

Die Elektrisiteitsbeheerraad (ECB) het vanoggend die nasionale kragverskaffer NamPower toestemming te gee om die grootmaat-elektrisiteitstarief met 5% te verhoog.

NamPower het op 12 April aansoek gedoen om die tarief met 6,5% te verhoog, maar volgens die ECB se uitvoerende hoof, me. Foibe Namene, is die prysverhoging van N$1,62 per kilowatt-uur na N$1,69 per kilowatt-uur genoeg om NamPower in staat te stel om sy koste te verhaal.

Dit sluit in die betaling van elektrisiteit wat deur onafhanklike kragvervaardigers vir hul bydraes geëis word.

Streeksverspreiders van krag, myne en groter munisipaliteite het tot 1 Julie, wanneer die verhoging in werking tree, om hul eie aanpassings aan te kondig.

Namene sê die goedgekeurde aanpassing is minder as inflasie, en sy verwag van verspreiders om hul pryse met nie meer as 5% te verhoog nie.
