City responds to request for serving land

City of Windhoek (CoW) has responded to servicing and provision of land to uniformed officers of Namibian Defense Force, Namibian Police Force and the Namibian Correctional services.In a media statement on Friday, the CoW said its councillors undertook a tour to various land sites around the City of Windhoek to address the housing need of the men and women in uniform by availing land to them for housing and other installations.“The main aim was to improve living conditions, easier access to duty stations which in turn has a positive impact on efficiency and effectiveness in carrying out their duties. The Namibian Defence Force required land for the housing development of about 1000 officers; and additional land for other military installations.The Namibian Police Force required land for housing development of about 5000 officers. The Namibian Correctional Service required land for housing development of about 3000 officers,” the statement reads.Having attended to the request from the Namibian Police Force and Namibian Defence Force, the focus is now on project implementation, while land allocation to the Namibian Correctional Services is high on the agenda of the Municipal Council and will be attended to soon, it adds. - Nampa
