Burgstraat in Windhoek staan sedert Sondag as dr. Theo-Ben Gurirab bekend. Volgens die hoofstad se burgemeester, mnr. Muesee Kasapua het die stadsvaders ‘n herbenamingsbeleid aanvaar om eer te betoon aan helde en leiers wat ‘n stryd gevoer het om onderdruktes te bevry. Gurirab is verlede jaar in die ouderdom van 80 jaar dood. Tussen 1986 en 1990 was hy Swapo se sekretaris vir buitelandse sake en ‘n sleutelfiguur in Namibië se vryheidstryd. Hy het ook vir 14 jaar as Swapo se hoofverteenwoordiger by die Verenigde Nasies gedien. Gurirab het ook in die poste van minister van buitelandse sake, eerste minister en Speaker van die Nasionale Vergadering tot en met sy aftrede in 2015 gedien. - Nampa
