Animal-friendly features on offer in the Kuga
Doggy seatbelts on offer
They say a dog is man's best friend, but who is a dog's best friend? Look no further than the new Ford Kuga.
The Kuga line-up is well-rounded and comprehensive with a host of fantastic features that makes it the perfect choice for families; especially those with pets. Visitors to WODAC, which takes place at the Gallagher Convention Centre in Midrand from 19 - 21 July, will have the opportunity to view the Kuga's unique pet-friendly solutions.
It starts with the Kuga's rear-view parking sensors. Often dogs run behind the car without the driver's knowledge. The sensors may help alert the driver before there is an incident.
The next handy feature is the low bumper height on the Kuga. This allows the dogs to jump in and out the vehicle more easily without the owner having to lift the animal in.
The adaptable rear storage space allows for the easy transportation of pets. The 60/40 rear split allows enough space in the rear for a pet crate while still offering rear passenger seating.
The second-row storage in the floor compartments is the perfect place to store travel essentials for your pet. The bins are large enough for travel-size containers for food and treats.
A hands-free lift-gate on the Kuga's Titanium model makes it easy for pet owners to load items in the back like large cages or food containers. In order to open or close the tailgate, the operator simply needs to wave their foot under the rear bumper of the car with the key in their possession. A useful feature when your hands are full with precious cargo.
Metal trunk loops in the rear cargo space aid dog owners in securing their pets. The dogs leash can be fastened to the clip when the cargo door is open, keeping the pet from jumping out. In the event of an accident, this feature also protects all passengers in the vehicle, keeping pets as secure as a seatbelt would.
In addition to the new Kuga, Ford will also be showcasing other pet-friendly models like the new Ford Transit, the Everest and the soon to be launched EcoSport. Further to this, visitors to the Ford stand will be asked to sign their name on a bag of dog or cat food and nominate a charity, from a selection of six, for the food to be delivered to.
