Anelda brings her gift back to Ondangwa
In light of International Women’s Day, Careers Hub sat down with Anelda Alfons, owner and founder of newly opened Rolia Spa in Ondangwa – a first for the town.

When Anelda Alfons (28) completed her secondary school education in Omuthiya, she never imagined she would own her very own health and skincare spa.
“After I completed my senior education at Ekulo Secondary School in Omuthiya, I moved to Windhoek in 2012 for my tertiary education. I enrolled for a degree in business administration but I only studied for two years,” says Alfons. “I always felt it was not my passion and I decided to pursue what I loved most, which is health and wellness.”
Growing up, Alfons was always the child who would jump at the opportunity to massage her elders’ feet. “Other children hated it, but for me, I really enjoyed pampering my family and making them feel good. This was when I thought about studying further in this field and going against the norm of studying law, medicine or engineering. Plus, my family really supported me with my choice,” she says.
After conducting some research, Alfons enrolled for at the Camelot International Health and Skincare in Pretoria, South Africa and continued to excel in her studies to complete international qualifications in Health and Skincare with Itec from the United Kingdom and Cidesco from Switzerland where she graduated top of her class in over four campuses.
“During my internship in 2016 in Pretoria, I first sketched my logo which I am proudly using today. I decided to name my spa after myself, Rolia; which is my second name,” she says.
After graduating and accumulating the knowledge and experience from different distinguished spas in Windhoek, Alfons established her business in 2019 in Windhoek.
“However, things weren’t entirely working out for me, so I decided to come back home and bring my talent and expertise back to my community,” says Alfons.
“My dream was always to bring back my knowledge and skills back home. It was then this year, in January, Rolia Spa was born.”
Triumphs and challenges faced in the industry
Rolia Spa currently offers a number of beauty services such as microblading, differently types of facials, massages and body treatments. “Do not be mistaken, though. Our spa is not only catering for women, but we wish to serve our men as well. Especially in the areas of beauty treatments. It is important for men to not feel neglected and to also treat themselves where necessary,” urges Alfons.
Their massage styles include traditional Swedish massage, reflexology and also has packages for mothers-to-be.
Rolia Spa is looking at expanding their services and bring equipment that can cater with laser hair removal, Botox and fat-freezing machines. “Not everyone has the time and the patience for going to the gym, so this equipment will definitely help with that.”
According to Alfons, during the lockdown, residents in the north, especially those in Ondangwa, became aware of the importance of health and wellness. “Bringing this unique service to the north was filled with so much joy, because finding all the services needed by our residents was offered in one place and our staff is also extremely qualified.”
Things weren’t always smooth sailing for Alfons, as due to the lockdown, she struggled to get her skincare products into the country. “Even though some of products are stuck at the border, so that is one of the challenges we are facing. Spas, due to the nature of services that involve close contact with clients, evoked fear in people and some clients think twice before going to any place,” she says.
However, Alfons ensures Rolia Spa creates a safe environment by implementing a healthy and safe environment with protocols by the World Health Organisation (WHO). “We make sure to wear our masks and disinfect everything in between treatment,” she says.
